Materials

Stainless steel is an alloy of iron with a minimum of 10.5% chromium. This prevents further corrosion of the surface. Increasing the amount of chromium provides remarkable resistance to corrosion. It is more expensive but reliable. It is most commonly used in the production of springs because of its high corrosion resistance and good tensile strength. For spring applications, it is generally supplied in the cold-drawn condition.
